Mr. Tilev concentrates his practice in the areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, reproductive law, and domestic and international adoptions, and immigration law. Mr. Tilev’s familiarity with immigration and family law enable him to advise clients when family law issues interrelate with immigration status. Mr. Tilev also handles employment disputes, including Maryland Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights (LEOBR) proceedings, and general litigation, including contract disputes, home improvement matters, traffic matters, juvenile matters and minor criminal matters. He serves as a Bulgarian law expert in United States courts. Mr. Tilev is fluent in Russian and Bulgarian.
Mr. Tilev has been practicing law since 1983. Mr. Tilev began his practice in Bulgaria, where he served as a Judge for the Capitol’s Circuit Court of Bulgaria for five years and received a Judge’s award for outstanding performance. He was also an adjunct professor of law at the VIF Faculty military academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Mr. Tilev obtained an advanced degree from the American University, Washington College of Law and started his own law practice in Bethesda, Maryland, where he worked until joining SPS&T.
